The English word “church” sometimes carries meanings that the Greek word translated “church” in the New Testament does not. Also like many words in English, Greek, or any other language, “church” in the New Testament means something slightly different depending on its context. It is important for us to discern which of those definitions of “church” is intended to understand how God wants us to behave in the church and as a congregation.
