David, the Messiah

Jesus is all throughout the Old Testament—shadows here, allusions there—but few places more frequent and explicit than in the life and writings of David. So much about David is a picture or a foretaste of the Messiah that the Christ is called not only "Son of David," but in some passages, simply "David."
