The Story of Ruth

The story of Ruth takes place during a very dark time in Israel's history: the days of the judges. In contrast with the accounts of idolatry, oppression, civil war, and vile wickedness that characterized most of the book of Judges, Ruth's growth in faith and Boaz's sterling character are a welcome breath of fresh air! Furthermore, with this account, God paints a picture—tips His hand, as it were—regarding things He has since brought to pass.
