Whenever God gives instructions, He expects us to follow them. On those occasions when we fail to follow God's instructions, God is gracious enough to forgive if we come to Him in contrition. We can learn a little something about how we ought to respect God's authority and how to approach Him when we fail by examining a man who was a poor example of both: King Saul.
