Living by Faith

Habakkuk cried out to God because of the injustice he saw around him, but he was surprised, almost offended, at God’s answer. God went on to say that, even with the grievous impending judgment, “the just shall live by his faith.” What does it mean to live by faith, both in the context of Habakkuk’s prophecy and in the context of the handful of times we find these words quoted in the New Testament?
