Election, but Not Unconditional

Another of the tenets of Calvinism is unconditional election: the idea that God chose before the foundation of the world who is saved and who is damned, completely irrespective of any soul’s choices or actions. While the Bible is clear that God chooses who some and rejects others, do their actions have no bearing at all on His choice?
