Are You Dull of Hearing?
The writer of Hebrews began to launch into a certain discussion, but he stopped short in chapter 5, accusing his audience of having become dull of hearing and therefore unable to comprehend what he intended to discuss. Becoming dull of hearing, losing one’s focus and zeal for the Lord—they are not just first-century problems. Without persistent and consistent effort, we will, as did some of the audience of Hebrews, wane in our fervor and our ability to recognize right and wrong. What are the signs? How can we recognize when we have become dull of hearing?
