Coming Up Short

When we look at the record of Israel of old, we find many times when they did not fulfill their potential. They fell short of God’s expectation for them. And sometimes we scoff, “How could they have been so foolish?” Yet when we take a moment to examine our own lives, how many times do we fall short? Our situations may be different, but the root problem for our failure is so frequently the same as what held Israel back. “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man … .” — I Corinthians 10:12, 13.
