The writers of the New Testament wrote about the end of the world and a final judgment. Most of us understand them to mean the literal destruction by God of His creation, but the doctrine of Realized Eschatology (or the AD 70 doctrine, as it is also known) teaches that the only judgment and destruction of the world the Bible ever covers is the judgment and collapse of the Jewish “world” at Jerusalem’s fall at the hands of Titus and the Roman army in AD 70.
We examine the fallacies in Realized Eschatology’s view of the end of the world, and we look at what the New Testament (and the Old) really have to say about it.
