It has appealed on some level to every man who has ever walked the earth, even those men closest to Jesus: Pride, the desire to be the greatest, and moreover that others recognize it. The Lord's apostles asked Him which of them would be the greatest in His kingdom, and He answered them—not the question that they asked, but the question they needed the answer to.
